The Perrotin Gallery in Hong Kong presents Eddie Martinez's solo exhibitionEMHK19". From an early age, an American was fond of painting, did not receive any formal art education, began and threw two different art schools in Boston. His work style and themes were influenced by the urban culture and iconography in which he grew up.
The author is known for his bold line and color processing. He managed to develop his style, based on the well-established classical conventions of portrait and still life. Its blocks of color and clear lines remind of problems and forms of semi-abstraction, but they have distinct figurative elements and a sense of personal iconography. It combines oil, enamel, acrylic paint and spray paint with a marker, pencil and collage (usually on canvas) to create a variety of textural and color contrasts - aggressive and full of energy.
