Brazilian Modern: The Living Art of Roberto Burlet Marx

Exhibition June 8 − September 29, 2019
New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) presents an exhibition "Brazilian Art Nouveau: The Living Art of Roberto Burlet Marx".

Roberto Burlet Marc (1909–1994) - Brazilian landscape designer, artist, conservationist, environmentalist and naturalist. He was a major figure in modernist art and gardening in Latin America in the second half of the 20th century thanks to his bold landscapes, bright art and passionate commitment to plant conservation. His powerful modernist vision has created thousands of gardens and landscapes, including the famous curved mosaic paths on Copacabana Beach in Rio and the beautiful roof garden of Banco Safra in Sao Paulo.

Visitors will be able to feel his artistic energy and love for plants during our exhibition, which combines gardening tribute to the design work of Berl Marx with lush gardens and a gallery of his bright paintings, drawings and textiles.
