Where we are: a selection from the Whitney collection, 1900-1960

Exhibition April 28 − December 31, 2017
Museum of American art the Whitney in new York presents the exhibition "Where are we: a selection from the collection of the Whitney, 1900-1960".
Focusing on works made in the first six decades of the twentieth century, the exhibition tells about how the artists came to relationships, society and actions that shape our lives.
The exhibition consists of works made entirely from the collections of the Museum of American art Whitney. It is organized around five themes: family and society, work, home, spirituality and nation, and includes painting, graphics, sculpture and photography.
During the sixty years covered here, the United States has endured war and peace, economic collapse and recovery, social differences and progress. American artists responded to such changing and turbulent events of a complex and varied way, and the main purpose of the exhibition is to honor the efforts of each of them to create their own vision of American life. Artists and their works show that our sense of identity consists of our liability, the provisions and beliefs.
The exhibition provided the well-known work of Louise Bourgeois, John Stuart Curry, Edward hopper, Jasper Johns, Jacob Lawrence, Georgia O Keefe and other artists. In addition, you can see the rarely exhibited work of Elizabeth Catlett, Jay Defeo and Ellsworth Kelly, as well as recent acquisitions by James castle, Palmer Hayden, Archibald motley.
