Neo Rauh: Aus dem Boden / On the Ground

Exhibition April 12 − July 28, 2019
The drawing center presents an exhibition Neo Rauch: Aus dem Boden / On the Ground. This is the first exhibition in the United States, entirely devoted to the drawings of the artist.

Neo Rauch (1960) is one of the most famous artists of the Leipzig school in Germany. His psychologically complex paintings were widely collected and painted over twenty years. This exhibition presents more than one hundred and fifty never-before-encountered or rarely-encountered works, covering more than thirty years of Rauch’s career, and representing drawing as an important but often overlooked aspect of his work.

His drawings range from miniature composition sketches for paintings to telephone drawings, sketches and landscape sketches, to more formal and complete works.
