Selection from the department of drawings and engravings: Rembrandt

Metropolitan Museum presents anotherrotation in the department of drawings and engravings.

This installation is dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the death of the great Dutch draftsman, painter and engraver Rembrandt van Rijn. The exhibition presents a selection of drawings and engravings of the artist, both from the department of drawings and engravings, and from the collection of Robert Lehmann., As well as the range of ephemeral material associated with the revival of etching and the Rembrandt cult in the nineteenth century.

The exhibition also features the etchings of Charles Merion and French color prints of the late nineteenth century, recent acquisitions of French drawings, and a section on the theme “Trompel” in paper works. There will also be drawings and other works by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
