Cuban caricature and culture: Massager's art

Exhibition June 7, 2019 − February 2, 2020
With his harsh political satire, celebrity cartoons, as well as magazine and advertising illustrations, graphic artist Konrado Walter Massager (1889–1965) helped shape the visual culture of his native Cuba between the 1920s and 1950s.

ThisExhibition The works will tell about Massager's legacy through dozens of works, from the images in his magazine Social to the image of a tropical paradise for the Cuban tourism industry.

Massager's transnational coverage will be featured in his covers for Collier's and Life, and cartoons about visiting dignitaries and Hollywood stars will show how he communicated with Franklin D. Roosevelt, Walt Disney, Albert Einstein and the King of Spain.
