Leonardo da Vinci. Life in drawings

To the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci exhibition"Life in Pictures" combine more than 200 of the greatest drawings of the Renaissance master from the Royal Collection. This will be the largest exhibition of works by Leonardo in the UK over the past 65 years.

Drawing was a kind of laboratory of Leonardo, in which he developed his ideas and searched for universal laws, which he believed were the basis of all creation. The artist’s sketches, which are kept in the Royal Collection, were grouped together since the death of the author in 1519. The collection of British monarchs, they fell during the reign of Charles II. Now the drawings provide an unprecedented understanding of how Leonardo’s mind worked, and reflect the whole range of his interests - painting, sculpture, architecture, anatomy, engineering, cartography, geology and botany.

From November 22, 2019 to March 15, 2020, the exposition will be open at the Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh.
