Norton Simon Museum presents “Matisse / Odalisky", A vivid exhibition that explores the life of odalisok and concubines. This theme has been popular in European art throughout the colonial period.

This small exhibition (eight exhibits from the collection of Norton Simon) features paintings by Henri Matisse, Frederick Basil, Pablo Picasso and Ashil Deverya.

The exhibition demonstrates how artists used the images of the odes for creative imagination, emphasizing color, costumes and dazzling surface effects.
