Flora Yukhnovich. Sweet spot

Exhibition February 8 − March 30, 2019
Pictures of Flora Yukhnovich trace the connection between the visual language originated in Rococo and modern popular culture. In her works, a young British artist shows how the concepts of femininity, taste and beauty were coded and reformulated in the history of art, before taking root in modern aesthetics.

Yukhnovich’s painting revolves around a number of binary positions: female and male, low and high culture, good and bad taste. With the help of her paintings, the artist explores aesthetic codes and the ways in which the drawn images encrypt and reinforce gender positions. Central to herexposure takes a pink color.
