Exhibition December 22, 2018 − April 7, 2019
The National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul presents the exhibition "Essence of Duchamp»From the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA). The exhibition gives an overview of the artist's work and emphasizes his consistent efforts to eliminate the boundary between art and life. Viewers can see about 150 works, including paintings, objects, films and drawings. This show will be the most extensive exhibition dedicated to Duchamp in this region.

The exhibition reveals the entire career of the influential and infinitely charming French-American artist Marcel Duchamp (1887–1968). Duchamp is a pioneer whose creative outcome was based on the fundamental question of what art is. He is well known, but remains a mysterious artist due to his elusive personality and unconventional nature of his works.
