Table of the poet. Yuri Norstein in Israel

It is difficult to find a person unfamiliar with the works of Yuri Norstein, many grew up on them: "Hedgehog in the Fog", "Tale of Fairy Tales" became an integral part of the history of world animation. Wise and ironic, touching and fabulous, these cartoons from the first frames remain in the memory forever, and behind their apparent simplicity hides the philosophical depths.

At the exhibition "Poet's table"In Altmans Gallery in Te Aviv about 30 works are presented - drawings and prints of Yuri Norshtein and his wife-artist Francesca Yarbusova. Visitors can find out how their favorite characters appeared: Hedgehog, Bear, Horse, Wolf and others. You can see the sketches and storyboards of his cartoons.

Yuri Norshtein - People's Artist of the Russian Federation (1996), laureate of the USSR State Prize (1979), Tarkovsky Prize winner “For the Author's Contribution to the Development of Art” (1989). Films by Yuri Norstein awarded numerous international awards. “The Tale of Fairy Tales” in 1984 in Los Angeles was recognized as the best film of all times and peoples according to the results of an international survey conducted by the Academy of Film Arts in conjunction with ASIFA-Hollywood. In 2002, according to the results of an international survey conducted by the Zagreb Film Festival, “The Tale of Fairy Tales” was again named the best cartoon in the world. In 2003 in Tokyo, “Hedgehog in the Fog” was recognized as the best animated cartoon of all times and peoples, the second being called “Fairy Tale of Tales”.
