Biography and information

CHUGAEV Valentin Nikolaevich,

painter

Born in 1946 in the city of Kurilsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalin region. Graduated from the Law Faculty of the Perm State University. He studied in art studios at the Palace of Culture named after. V.I. Lenin and the Palace of Culture named after Ya.M. Sverdlov. The works are in private collections in Russia and abroad.

V. Chugaev uses traditional pictorial means to create modern works addressed to the mass audience. His painting is decorative and spectacular. The author's paintings are figurative, often with a fairly well-defined narrative plot and extremely diverse themes. Animals occupy a significant place in the author's works. But this is not a classic animalistic genre. Today, the appeal to animals is not at all an indicator of interest in nature, but flares up in the wake of the revival of paganism and the mass enthusiasm for oriental exoticism. The images are interpreted in different ways, often the author does not go beyond the limits of an entertaining game, exoticism, not devoid of sentimentalism. In the best examples, he manages to achieve a certain generalization and create an allegory image.
