Russia • 1920−1987
Born and lived in the village of Mochsokhon (Buryatia). After graduating from teacher training courses in 1939, he worked for 25 years as a teacher in his native village. He enthusiastically studied and collected materials on the history of the Buryat people, organized an ethnographic museum in the village. During ethnographic expeditions, he made numerous sketches from nature, from which he later proceeded to create compositions according to his presentation. His calligraphic ink drawings with documentary authenticity convey life and holidays drilled, portray heroes of the epic and events of recent history.
