Description of the artwork «The ghost of the Gulf of Finland.»

Friends and guests, I share my fresh sketches made from nature at -8 -10 C in Peterhof and not a big story-note. Despite the trials that are still ongoing, they managed to escape in January 2021 and, thank God, nature, architecture are alive ...
Descending the narrow steps along the Peterhof fountains, the very environment around them inspired Tchaikovsky's music "The Nutcracker". Coming closer to the Gulf of Finland there was a feeling that I was moving from color to graphics, the coast was so contrasting.
Coming closer to the shore, I saw icy black-blue, purple stones, and behind them a white, almost all ice-covered bay. I felt cold, but, amazingly, he attracted me to him with incredible force, I took a water brush, watercolor and paper and began to write, wrote very quickly, because everything freezes and I tried to grasp the subtle nuances of the color of the sky and the sea.
I saw such subtle gradations of details that seemed to move as if they were alive, and I understand that this can be done using watercolors.
And now the work is finished, and the chilling cold begins to envelop me, it begins to go from bottom to top, from the depths of the sea, like a living organism of an underwater monster beckons to the depths of its underwater kingdom!
And there, everything will remain on the horizon as an eternal ghost of the Peter and Paul Fortress ...
