Born June 17, 1940 in the town of Gryazi in Lipetsk region. In 1960 he enrolled in art school and in 1965 graduated with honors. From 1965 to 1968 he studied at the painting faculty of the Leningrad art Institute. I. Repin. After his father's death was forced to move to Moscow art Institute. V. Surikov. I graduated from the Academy a picture of "Red printer" in 1971. Since 1977 – Member of Union of artists of Russia.
