Painter, draftsman. A landscape painter, a genre painter, marine painter. He studied at the Academy of arts under I. E. Repin and p. P. Chistyakov c 1902 1909 In 1909 the title of the artist for the painting "the Snow fell".

Member and exponential associations: "independent Association", "Society. A. I. Kuindzhi", etc. participant of the International exhibition in Venice. Known for satirical drawings in the magazines "machine Gun" (1905, cover with the famous picture of "His Majesty the all-Russian Proletarian"), "field", "Lukomorie", "Sun of Russia", etc. Worked in the manner of the grotesque, had an excellent knowledge of contour drawing.

Works are in State Russian Museum, many other museums of Russia and Ukraine.
