Registered users can follow their favourite artist not to miss any new artwork, news or sale. Find friends, line-minded people and modern artists among other users, create communities and topics, add artists and their artworks to the Arthive database.
Registration button is located in the top right corner at any page of Arthive. Note, that fields "Name", "Email", "Password" and "Code" are mandatory. If a code is no clear, use a button (on the right) to change it. You can also register with your Facebook, VK, OK, Google Plus, Twitter, Mair.ru and Yandex accounts.
Use "Forgot your password?" option in the log in form and enter email address you have indicated at registration. Within 5 minutes you will receive a message with a link to a page where you can change your password. Warning: the link is active for a day only; if it is not used during this period, you will have to request another one.
When logged in, place the cursor over your login (at the top part of any page near search box) and select "Edit Profile" from the drop-down menu. At this page you can add and/or change any information, including password.
Go to "Friends" page, select "Find Friends" and search by name. If you do not know anyone on Arthive yet and want to find like-minded people, use recommendations based on your interests (right column in "Friends" section). In this list you will find people with similar interests and add them to your circle.
To start a conversation with another user, go the this user's page and click "Send a Message". You can send a text, an image, an audio or a video by pressing corresponding buttons at the bottom of message window. Another way is to place a cursor over your friend's name and click the envelope icon in the pop-up window. If you wrote to this user before, you can go to the dialogue from any Arthive page by selecting the chat icon in the top right corner of the page.
You can get notifications of new messages, activities and other useful information by sms (if you specified phone number at registration) or by email. To manage these functions place cursor over your login and select "Notifications Setup" from the drop-down menu. You can also subscribe to interesting mail outs at this page.
By default all your updates - new friends, materials you likes, comments, notes, added artworks, deals, statuses - will be on your friends' feeds, but you can limit the audience. Place cursor over your login, select Privace Settings from a drop-down menu and remove flags where you want. At this page you can also choose those who can see your collections and preferences. Do not forget to save all the changes.
On your feed you can see updates from your friends, communities, artists and galleries you follow. The number indicates updates you have not viewed.
Account can be deleted upon user's request, sent from email address specified at registration or from a dialogue with tech support. If you have lost access to your email and can not log in, you can send a request from any other email address and attach a scan of your ID.
Before adding an artist, make sure he is not registered in Arthive. Go to "Artists and Artworks" page and open addition form. You need to complete four steps: enter general information about the artist, his art, education and biography facts. Save the profile by clicking "Ready" button. Please note: only those users, who have a confirmed email or phone number can add artists.
If you added this artist, you can change his biography, photo and other data any time. To do so, go to the artist's page and press "Edit". In "Privacy Settings" you can delegate the rights to add/delete artworks, manage information and artwork statuses for the artist you added to another user.
If the artist was added by somebody else, you can offer your updates or edit the existing biography. There is a link on the artist page which opens the editor. Do not get upset if you do not see the updates immediately, the moderator must have not approved them yet.
You should sent a message to the tech support, introduce yourself and specify your relation to the artist. We may request support documentation and give you the rights to manage the page. Please specify your Arthive profile in your message.
On any Arthive page place the cursor over the icon in the top right corner and select the required option: add an artwork to the collection, to your artworks or the Arthive database. Download the image, saved on your computer, and fill out as much data as possible. Please note: only those users, who have a confirmed email or phone number, can add artworks.
To change any information on the artwork you added or delete it from Arthive, go to the collection or selection, place cursor over the artwork and press asterisk. Select the required item from the drop-down menu. Save the changes by clicking "Ready" button.
There is a "Complain" button on artwork page, and you can send a complaint by clicking on it. It will be easier for the moderator to solve the problem if you provide the reason for your report and a comment.
Start your search with the words "post", "artwork" etc. For example, a search "news Van Gogh" will return news with Van Gogh mentioned in their title.
Yes, you can add an image, a video or an audio when commenting an artwork, news or a topic. Please use the corresponding buttons in the comment window.
Collections are personal collections of artworks a collector or an art dealer can have under "My Collection" on their Arthive page. Please note, that for your own artworks there is a special "My Artworks" section (the section is available if you identified as an artist).
A collection can be sorted by author, country, time period and other parameters, providing titles and descriptions for each. You can make your collection public or hide it from other users. All public collections on Arthive are visible in the main site menu under "Collections". The Arthive keeps a collection rating based on views and likes.
To add an artwork to the collection use the corresponding button on "My Collections" page or "Add Artwork" button on any page of the website (top right corner). Follow recommendations from "Content" section ("How to add an artwork?"). You can add annotation and provenance to any artwork.
Selections are collections, organized by an attribute (author, theme, style, object, storage location etc.) Any user can create selections of favourite artworks. All selections are visible in the corresponding section of the main website menu. The Arthive keeps a selection rating based on views and likes.
Place the cursor over an artwork from the Arthive database you want to see on your selection and an "Add to Selection" button will appear. Click the button and send the artwork to an existing or a new selection ("Create" field appears on the same drop-down menu). You can view all your selections on selections page and you can view your friends' or other users' selections on their pages.
The rating is based on views and likes. To vote for a collection or selection you need to open it and like it.
In "Communities" option select those you are interested in and press "Join". Now you can post comments and create new threads n this community.
If none of the communities suits you, create your own by pressing "New Community". In a drop-down window download the image and background, specify name, region and provide description.
Go to the community page and select "Write a Post". Specify topic, add images, videos or audios. Note, that you can create new topics only in communities you have already joined.
Only a registered Arthive user can add a gallery. Log in and go to "Gallery" option, select "Add Gallery or Museum". You need to complete four steps: enter general information about a gallery/museum (name, contacts, website etc.), information about exhibition hall (if available) and working hours, indicate artworks you sell/buy and methods of payment and delivery. Press "Ready" when you fill out all fields.
Go to "Collection" option and press "Add Artwork". If you want to add several artworks, press "Add Another Picture" in the addition window.
If the author of the artwork is already in Arthive, the system prompts you to select this author from a drop-down list. Use this function to avoid duplicating artist page.
If the author is not in the Arthive, the system automatically creates his/her page and you will be able to manage it. After you added the artwork it is recommended to go to the author's page and add some information about the author - this will promote users' interest to the artwork.
Read Arthive recommendation for preparing an artwork for sale. When you add an artwork, flag "Put Artwork On Sale" and specify required information: price, payment and delivery methods.
Go to "Artworks" option in the main menu, select "Artworks on Sale". Use filters at the right and at the top (style, genre, price, period etc.) - this way you will save time and find exactly what you need.
Go to the artwork page and press the price tag in the bottom right corner. The artwork will be added to your cart and you will be able to proceed with the purchase or start a conversation with the seller. Use templates to ask for a discount, make your price offer or request more details from the seller.
If the artwork you want to sell is not listed among your artworks, add it via artwork addition form (see "Content" chapter). Do not forget to indicate that you own the artwork and flag "Put on Sale" option. Indicate type of sale, payment and delivery parameters and save. If you have added the artwork before and now want to sell it, select "Artworks" option, put a cursor on the artwork and press a gearwheel pictogram. Select "Sell" in a drop-down menu and fill out required fields.
In case a user added your artwork to their cart and initiated a purchase or sent you a message, you will get a notification, and a red number (1, 2, 3 - corresponding to the number of artworks and buyers) will appear by the User menu. You can go to the Sales chapter and start a conversation with a potential buyer to discuss the deal.
To add information about an exhibition, select "Exhibitions" from the main menu, press "Add Exhibition" and follow instructions to fill out the information. Note required fields "Exhibition Title" and "Description of Exhibition".
Go to the page of a gallery you manage. Press "Manage" button next to the gallery name and select "Add Exhibition". Enter information in a pop-up window. You can also add an exhibition via Exhibitions option on "Exhibition" menu.
To change information, go to the page of exhibition you manage and press "Edit Exhibition" button above the title of event. Do not forget to save the changes.
Delete button is at the exhibition page near "Edit" button. Warning: it is not possible to restore a deleted exhibition, you will have to enter all information again.
Any Arthive user can invite friends to any exhibition he or she likes. Press "Invite Friends" button at the exhibition page (under exhibition poster). Invitations can be sent via social networks, email or text message.
Use "Exhibitions" option and select "Change Region". You can select the whole world or specify a region down to a community.
