Bildbeschreibung «W.T.»
This abstract is dedicated to British painter, master of the romantic landscape, watercolorist and printmaker Whithiam Turner.
In particular his masterpiece painted in 1839, "The Last Voyage of the Ship Daring". This work is one of the best in William's oeuvre. It is known that the artist treasured this work, was so attached to it that he did not agree to sell it for any money. Turner depicted the setting sun, against a background of fiery clouds from which we observe the movement of the "Daring". This is a warship, a veteran of the Battle of Trafalgar. The small coal-black self-propelled vessel is towing the battle general to the banks of the Thames. Here it will be dismantled. Most likely, the plot of the painting was born in William's imagination, rather than being painted from nature. The sad and lyrical image of the dilapidated vessel epitomizes the bygone era of sailing ships. It also serves as a reminder of the perishability of all things.
William Turner was way ahead of his time, so he was not understood by his contemporaries.
The artist's later works are painted with light, transparent, quick strokes. The artist preferred light colors, was very fond of whitewash and various shades of yellow and brown.
In 2014, a movie was made about the artist Turner.
