Painter, graphic artist. Youth spent in Mariupol. In 1920 emigrated to Harbin, he studied in the Studio "Lotus" in M. A. Kichigina and A. A. Bernardazzi. In 1925, came to San Francisco. Studied at the California art school at City of Piezoni, R. Stackpole and L. Randolph. In 1929-31 he worked under the leadership of D. Rivera in Mexico city. Engaged in easel painting and graphics, he held a number of solo exhibitions in San Francisco, Stockton, Stanford. Participated in international exhibitions in new York and San Francisco. Taught at the California hudojestvennoi school (early 1930s), Stanford University (1936). Professor Emeritus at Stanford University (1961). The Chairman of the Russian-American community to assist the red army (1941-1945). In the 1950s, was part of a group Graphic Workshop in San Francisco, uniting artists of left-wing views. In 1963 he returned to the Soviet Union, took Soviet citizenship. Undertook several monumental projects (mozaki on the Home front connection panel "From the Scythians to the cosmos"). In recent years painted pictures with political content. Paintings of the author are in the collections of N. With.Khrushchev, Titov, A. Moiseeva, M. Rostropovich , the Bolshoi theatre, the Russian Museum, the museums. Zhdanov, Volgograd, Kiev, etc

In 1938 he moved to the US and became a member of the Communist party. Studied
California art school at City of Piezoni, R. Stackpole and L. Randolph.
In 1929 – 1931 he worked under the leadership of D. Rivera in Mexico city. Engaged in easel painting and graphics, he held a number of solo exhibitions in San Francisco, Stockton, Stanford. During the Second world war was Chairman of the Russian-American community
to assist the red army.
In 1963 he returned to the Soviet Union, where he organized an exhibition of his paintings in the city of Zhdanov (now Mariupol again) and Leningrad.

In recent years painted pictures with political content.
