The subject, seemingly simple at first glance, is nevertheless symbolic - the dark background chosen is not only an idea taken from old Dutch still lifes, but also a symbolic reference to the dark, difficult times in everyone's life..... Blooming orchids, hyacinths and a branch with budding young leaves in the foreground are not only about spring as such... it is a symbol of rebirth, beauty, natural harmony, which a priori is and will always be.
