Sergey Grigoryev was born on June 11, 1953 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia, into a military man's family. In 1958 the family moved to Ukraine in the city of Poltava. He graduated from art school and immediately entered the Kiev State Art Institute at the Faculty of Graphics, which he graduated with excellent marks in 1977. He takes an active part in republican art exhibitions (“20 Years of the Ukrainian Print”, and others). At the end of his military service, he lives and works in different cities of the former Soviet Union. In 1984 he returned to Poltava. In 1989 he became a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, engaged in posters, monumental and easel painting, took an active part in the creative life of the Union, and headed throughout 1991, the Poltava Regional Organization of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. In 2006 he left for Italy, where he successfully continued his creative activity. In 2008, he won the first prize in the prestigious painting competition "Libero De Libero" in Settefrati. In the same year he holds a solo exhibition in the ancient city of Alatri, and also becomes a permanent exhibitor of the Volare art gallery.
