Russian Soviet painter, graphic artist, master of theatrical scenery. He studied painting in Austria, then in France at the School of Fine Arts (? Cole des Beaux-Arts) and the Academy of A. Viti. In December 1917, at the suggestion of Lunacharsky, whom he was familiar with in Parisian life, Shterenberg became the government commissioner for art, head of the Fine Arts Department of the People's Commissariat for Education. In 1922 in Moscow participated in the Exhibition of Three (N. Altman, M. Shagal, D. Shterenberg). In 1925 he became one of the founders, and then chairman of the art association "Society of Easel Workers" (OST), participates in all exhibitions of the company. During the Second World War, Shterenberg lives in evacuation in Irkutsk, works at TASS Windows. The works are in many museum and private collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum. One of the most significant collections of paintings and drawings by the master possesses the Pushkin Museum. A.S. Pushkin.
