Painting, 1947, 50×70 cm

Description of the artwork «Untitled landscape»

This is one of the rare paintings of the early period of Edgardo Ribeiro, which has no name. At the end of the 40s. the artist is just starting to approach creativity on his own and try different painting techniques. And this picture is probably the best way demonstrates the time of the artist’s quest. Despite the fact that almost a century passed from the time of the first impressionists, Ribeiro fully manages to subtly combine his original perception of the technique of post-impressionism and such a fashionable one in the late 30s and early 40s. Twentieth century constructivism technique. This work best illustrates the era of quest, new trends in art. Then the teachers Edgardo Ribeiro, the founders of constructivism, the artists Joaquin Torres Garcia and the founder of the Uruguayan art school, maestro Jose Gurvich, were still alive and working in full force.
