Description of the artwork «Study for the portrait of A.S. Pushkin»
Study for the portrait of A.S. Pushkin. 1828 Paper, Italian pencil; 20.5x15.5 The original is in the memorial Museum-Lyceum in Pushkin (All-Russian Museum of AS Pushkin (Lyceum)). There are records of contemporaries testifying that in 1828 the artist simultaneously worked on two portraits - A. Mitskevich and A.S. Pushkin. There is no information about the portrait of Pushkin, in its final form, presented at the exhibition. To this day, the portrait has not been preserved. The original painting (oil on canvas) was lost during the uprising of Kastus Kalinovsky in 1863.
