Description of the artwork «Dragon Guang Zong Song Dynasty, Celadon. (龙 光宗 宋朝 , 青瓷。)»

The great profession of artisan-potter received an unprecedented distribution during the Song period. This was caused by a passionate search for the Suna potters, whose goals to some extent resembled the aspirations of the alchemists: by calcining vessels on high fire, they sought to achieve the impeccability, sonority and color of jade. The extreme simplicity and elegance of the forms led to the fact that, among other things, the delicacy and soft gloss of the glaze were highly valued. Almost immediately wealthy people appeared who liked this ceramics so much that they began to collect it. However, the capture of Kaifeng by the Jurchen in 1127 led to the fact that a huge number of high-quality works were stolen or lost. In general, ceramics was divided into two large categories, which appeared back in the Tang period: white was called ding, and bluish-gray was called celadon.
