Description of the artwork «Caucasian view with a huckle»

"Caucasian view from the hut." (Military Cargo. Road near Mtskheta; 1837–38; cardboard, oil, IRLI). Entered the Lermontov Museum in 1890 from the heirs of A. A. Kraevsky. The authorship of Lermontov has been repeatedly witnessed by various persons. The descendants of Kraevsky wrote to accompany. gift letter: "D.V. Grigorovich is still alive and well, testifying to the authenticity of these artistic works of Lermontov." It depicts the confluence of the Aragva and Kura rivers and the Jvari monastery - the scene of the poem "Mtsyri". One of the best paintings by L.: the aerial perspective is excellently conveyed here, in the soft blue haze of which mountains and rivers are gently painted.
