E. E. Moiseenko artist of great talent and complicated story. Fifteen-year teenager, he is sent from a remote Belarusian village to Moscow, where in 1931 entered the art-industrial school im. M. I. Kalinina, Department of painting on metal and papier-mache. The College provided the opportunity to do practical training in well-known centers of Russian folk art - Zhostovo villages, Fedoskino, Palekh.
Without exaggerating the importance of this initial phase of arts education, it is impossible, however, to note the influence exerted by folk art on the further work of the artist. Is this not the hidden origins of the Mature painting style Moiseenko - its free temperamental behavior, renunciation of the right of academic drawing, including the heavy black color palette?
After graduating from College, Moiseenko in the spring of 1936 came to Leningrad and entered the painting Department of IZHSA. Here he was fortunate to learn from A. A. Osmerkin, an artist of high professional culture, a strong temperament who understood and appreciated folk art. So moyseenko previously learned skills given a new impetus to development.
Classes interrupted by the war: July 5, 1941 Moiseenko he volunteered in the militia. On the approaches to Leningrad, he and his unit were surrounded and fascist captivity. Until April 1945 was in a concentration camp in Altengrabow. When the prisoners were liberated by allied troops, the young man at his request flown home. He ended the war fighting in the 3rd guards cavalry corps.
After demobilization in November 1945, returned to College and in 1947 he finished brilliantly, presenting as a thesis painting "General Dovator". Although immediately after his graduation as a Mature artist admitted to the Soviet artists ' Union, the further promotion and recognition for the recent prisoner of the concentration camps was impossible.
The situation changed in the 1950s, after Stalin's death. Since 1956, when Moiseenko first elected to the leadership of the Leningrad branch of Union of artists, he began his rapid ascent.
In 1970, Moiseenko was awarded the title people's artist of the USSR; in 1974 for a series of paintings "Years of combat", he was awarded the Lenin prize in 1976 - the order of Friendship of peoples.
Since 1958, Moiseenko began teaching at izhsa as head of personal painting Studio. The intense educational work did not interfere with his own intense creativity and never stopped until the end of his life.
In 1963, Moiseenko was awarded the title of Professor of painting, and in 1973 he was elected full member AH the USSR. The artist's solo exhibition, which opened in March 1982 in the timing showed the true scale of his talent and the incredible, almost to the limit of human performance capabilities.
Traditionally considered a master of thematic paintings, Moiseenko is revealed as a gifted portraitist (portraits N. N. Zolotarev, 1967; painter, A. A. Osmerkin, 1970; art historian G. V. Kekusheva, 1971; "In the Old Ladoga. (Self-portrait with wife)", 1978; "Portrait of mother", "Portrait", "Portrait of wife", all 1979, etc.), the author of the poetic landscape ("Landscape. Stitches", "Suzdal", both 1968; "Apple Blossoms", "Lake", "Rain", "Night. The old lime tree", "Night village", all 1973; "Winter. Gray day", 1977; "Dark trees", "Green may", "pond", all 1978) and tight, boldly painted still lifes ("still life with an antique torso", 1971; "Guitar", 1972; "still life with Jasmine", 1977; "still life with fresco", 1980, etc.).
And all the same thematic pattern determines the main direction in the work of the artist. Art Moiseenko autobiographical in nature. It depicts that survived that went deeply into the consciousness. Nursing from home in adolescent age and the associated experiences have heightened interest Moiseenko to the world of teenagers. He devotes to this topic a range of works - from explicitly biographical ("From childhood", "the well", both 1979) from numerous images of boys swimmers, campers, seen in unity with nature. It is significant that spiritually close to him by Sergei Yesenin, the artist also presented a teenager ("Sergei Yesenin with his grandfather", 1964).
Throughout the creativity for the main Moiseenko remains the theme of war, the suffering, the heights of the human spirit, tragic losses and happiness of Victories. He plays seen and experienced the series ("This should not be forgotten", 1960-62; "Mothers, sisters", 1967; "Victory", 1970-72; "Veterans", 1978) and along with it creates a different reality, creating a wonderful fusion of truth and dreams. Through the romantic poetry of E. G. Bagritsky, P. I. Utkin, M. A. Svetlov perceived and portrayed by the artist, the era of the civil war. "We drove the youth" (1972-75) he called one of his paintings, focusing on poetry as a source of inspiration.
His other works devoted to the subject of the civil war also imbued with romanticism and poetic perception of the world ("Red has come", 1961; "Comrades", 1963-64; "Messengers", 1967; "Cherry", "Commissioner", both 1969; Song, 1978-80). Romantic, sublime beginning, clearly visible in the works of Moiseenko, not by accident. They, of course, reflected the personality of the artist, but equally - and the atmosphere of the time, inspired, full of hope of the 1960s, with their high rising wave of poetry and song rhythms. And that would be in the future nor the artist wrote - solar Hellas, intellectual Paris or close to his heart Spain, the beginning of the song is present in his painting as rhythm, poetry - like atmosphere.
By nature Moiseenko was generously gifted man. He not only saw the color, but absolutely heard the word. His thirst for literature is not just a tribute to the time, but deep need of a creative nature. Favorite poet - Pushkin. His image, the artist returned permanently, perhaps feeling some kinship with the restless soul of the poet ("Pushkin in Boldin", 1974; "Pushkin", "still life with the figure of A. S. Pushkin", both 1976; "Evening. Pushkin", 1978). One of the last important works of Moiseenko dedicated to the dying Pushkin.
