Vyrzhikovsky Edward Yakovlevich (1928-2008)
Russian Soviet painter, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists (until 1992 - Leningrad Organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR).
Edward Yakovlevich Vyrzhikovsky was born on April 18, 1928 in Irkutsk. In 1948 he graduated from the Leningrad Secondary Art School at the USSR Academy of Arts. In the same year he entered the painting department of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin, studied under Peter Belousov, Alexander Zaitsev. In 1954 he graduated from the institute in the workshop of Professor Boris Johanson with the qualification of an artist. Thesis - painting "At lunchtime." He participated in exhibitions since 1952, exhibiting his works together with the works of leading masters of fine art of Leningrad. He painted genre paintings, landscapes, portraits, still lifes. In 1957 he was admitted to the Leningrad Union of Artists. In 1989-1992, the works of E. Y. Vyrzhikovsky were successfully presented at exhibitions and auctions of Russian painting L 'Ecole de Leningrad in France. In 2001, Vyrzhikovsky was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. He died on March 29, 2008 in St. Petersburg at the 80th year of his life. The works of E. Ya. Vyrzhikovsky are in museums and private collections in Russia, France, Japan, Great Britain, Finland and other countries.
