Description of the artwork «Glory of the lord»

My painting "Glory of the Lord" was painted according to the stylistic and compositional principle of the hagiographic icon. Just as in Christendom the central figure is Christ the Savior of the World, so in the center of the composition of my picture is the figure of Jesus Christ surrounded by angels with the symbols of the Eucharist. Along the edges I combined the plots from the Old and New Testaments. If you look clockwise, to the right of the viewer are some stories of the Old Testament: above is Adam and Eve, below is the Great Flood, Judith and Holofernes, Vision of the Glory of the Lord to the Prophet Ezekiel, David and Bathsheba (to the right, from below) and further (closer to center) King Solomon on the background of the first Jerusalem temple, built by him to the Lord of hosts ... On this, the plots of the Old Testament end and the plots of the New Testament (to the left of the center, below) - Christmas of the Blessed Virgin, Christmas of Christ (bottom - left), and above - Baptism of jesus christ in The Jordan River by John the Baptist, The Last Supper, Descent from the Cross, Resurrection of Christ. The central upper story uniting the Old and New Testaments and crowning them is God the Father - the Lord of hosts at the time of the Creation, surrounded by a host of angels.
The painting itself was painted under the influence of one of my favorite artists, the Early Dutch artists of the Northern Renaissance, Jan and Gubet van Eyck. I added a compositional structure characteristic of the Russian Orthodox icon and my style is ornamentalism. The whole picture, in spite of the “jewelry” work, is painted by hand with the finest brush and small ornaments.
I wrote two versions of the picture, one of them is in one of the private collections of Russia, the second in Florence.
